The camp

A genuine bush experience close to the convenience of Maun and the stunning beauty of the Okavango Delta.

Tshima Bush Camp is a small, intimate camp close to Maun, the iconic safari town of Botswana. It is situated on 30 hectares of natural bush with direct access to the Nhabe river. Our Meru style tents provide comfort and lots of privacy. Walking trails invite guests to explore the area. You may find duiker, aardvark and a huge variety of birds. From time to time, elephants pass by as well and hippos inhabit the river.

The camp is a perfect base for exploring nearby natural treasures such as the world-famous Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve and Nxai Pan National Park. Furthermore, the village of Komana is located close by and can be explored to get a glimpse of Botswana village life. The camp also serves as an excellent spot to spend the night while traveling to your next destination in Botswana.

Tshima Bush Camp is easy to reach via a good quality tar road, just a 25-minute drive from Maun.

A delicious, picnic style breakfast is always included in our rates. Breakfast will be served in the privacy of your own tent. Every night, a 3-course dinner will be served in our garden under the stars, after a drink (or 2!) at our fire place. Bush babies jump around and are frequently seen during dinner.

Classic, Meru-style luxury tents

Our Meru-style tents are luxurious and fitted with an en suite bathroom with (hot) shower and toilet. The tents are situated in the middle of the bush amidst the original, un-landscaped vegetation. A private area around each tent allows you to enjoy and relax in nature. The tents are also positioned away from each other, therefore ensuring complete privacy. The dawn chorus of francolins and guinea fowl will be your natural wake-up call!

Environmentally friendly

Tshima Bush Camp is fully self-supporting and ecologically responsible. We use solar energy exclusively and we win and purify our own water. Furthermore, our waste management and sewage systems contribute to our green profile. Solar geysers are used for hot water supply, also helping to reduce our environmental impact.

We can arrange a variety of (day) trips for you to the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve and Nxai Pan National Park. All trips include transportation and lunch. The Moremi and Nxai Pan trips include game drives as well while the trip to the Okavango Delta includes a so called mokoro trip (this is a traditional canoe that is pushed forward through the channels of the Delta by a ‘poler’) and a walking safari.

Scenic flights over the Okavango Delta are a popular option as well and can be arranged for you.

About us

After many doubts and possibilities, we found a perfect spot of 30 hectares of natural bush close to Maun. The Tshima Bush Camp. Maybe the Tshima Bush Camp found us?

Moving from Belgium to the bush is quite a change. But the beauty of Botswana and its people as well as challenge of running a camp in Africa was very appealing to us and we have never looked back. We are full of future ideas and we’d happily share our story with you while having a drink around our fire place.
